VF-192 was established as VF-153 in March 1945. Its first deployment was aboard USS Antietam (CV-36) in March 1947 flying F6F Hellcats. After that deployment, the squadron’s designation was changed to VF-15A, then a short while later to VF-151. In 1949, the squadron began training in the F8F Bearcat at NAS Alameda, California. The following January they sailed aboard USS Boxer (CV-21). Upon their return they transitioned to the F4U Corsair. Thanks to www.gibson-barnes.com for the information..
