One of the most notable missions of the 24th Troop Carrier Squadron was the “Halpro” mission, which took place in August 1943. The mission involved transporting a group of reinforcements to the island of Sicily, which was still held by the enemy at the time. The squadron flew over 1,000 miles, navigating through dangerous weather conditions, to deliver the reinforcements to the island.
