After the war, the 12th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron continued its service during the Cold War era. It was stationed at various bases in Europe and played a key role in monitoring and gathering intelligence on Soviet activities. The squadron operated a variety of aircraft, including the RF-4C Phantom II, RF-80 Shooting Star, and RF-84 Thunderflash.
